Diamonds in the Community

Diamonds in the Community is a local charity focused on creating better futures for everyone in Airdrie, Coatbridge, and the surrounding area. Its projects support physical and mental wellbeing, social inclusion, and essential services — from walking and meditation groups to clothing aid and equipment recycling schemes.

Diamonds’ work plays a vital role in reducing isolation, encouraging health and wellbeing, and ensuring that practical support is available to those who need it most. At Aquila, we are honoured to support an organisation that brings people together, strengthens community ties, and demonstrates how small acts of kindness can create a big impact.

Aquila was involved with its Director Paul Clark on a visit to Namibia in Southern Africa in April 2023 where 23 intrepid adventurers from North Lanarkshire journeyed to Namibia, travelling across the vast Namib Desert, helping local communities with a variety of projects as they went. One project that was particular fun was teaching the children of The JP Brand school Newton's third law of dynamics and how to build and fly water rockets. The project was fantastic fun and the children and adults had a great time building, then flying the rockets at dusk in the Namib desert.

Inspiring Young Creativity and Teamwork

The Minerva Juniors offers an inspiring space where children and young people can express themselves through performing arts. Run by dedicated volunteers, the group provides opportunities for young talent to shine, develop confidence, work collaboratively, and take part in productions that build skills and self-esteem.
